AIA Course Description: The Buy American Act (BAA) and the Build America, Buy America Act (BABA) are two pivotal federal procurement policies that shape material sourcing and compliance for construction projects in the United States. While the history of these programs goes back decades, the navigation of finding products that comply with the appropriate standards is not always so easy.  This course demystifies the legal frameworks, historical evolution, and practical implications of these acts—empowering participants to make informed decisions when selecting products for the projects where these procurement policies are administered.

1. Understand the origins and evolution of procurement policies from BAA through today’s BABA policies.
2. Differentiate between BAA and BABA policies and the project types that they oversee.
3. Identify and explore the funding and oversight bodies agencies and their roles of defining BAA and BABA compliance.
