Controls Technician

We are looking for a knowledgeable and skilled team player to join our Controls team as a Controls Technician.  The role is responsible for pre-programming and kitting at The Controls Group shop, as well as onsite trouble shooting, commissioning, and owner training for Commercial, Architainment, and Theatrical lighting control projects.   The ideal candidate would have great organizational skills, expertise in lighting control protocols, as well as excellent communication skills to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor with customers while under pressure and times of high demand.

  • Shop Duties
    • Engineer and effectively pre-program controls projects, package completed systems, and ready them for shipment.
    • Receive, catalog, and disperse inventory as needed for projects.
    • Provide post commissioning and warranty services.
    • Test and verify status of returned materials.
    • Clean and organize the Controls shop.
  • Field Service
    • Perform on-site job commissioning and troubleshooting of controls projects.  Prepare site reports and commissioning documentation.
  • Team Player
    • Develop and nurture teamwork with peers to create a positive, collaborative, energized work environment.
    • Assist where needed in order to contribute to the overall success of The Controls Group.
  • Must possess valid Washington State driver’s license and be able to show proof of automobile insurance as travel is required for this position (50%).
  • Provide an appropriate vehicle to drive to/from worksite locations (paid mileage reimbursement). 
  • Expertise in various lighting control protocols.
  • Expertise in reading construction documents and wiring diagrams.
  • Technical expertise in programming, trouble shooting, and commissioning of lighting control projects. 
  • Demonstrated ability to use CAD and Blue Beam. 
  • Experience as a major controls manufacturer’s field technician, or commissioning agent preferred.
  • High school diploma, some college preferred.
